Get Shelves
If there are not already shelves in the garage a good and sturdy set should be purchased. There are many different types of wall shelving for the garage. This will allow a person to store their items and keep them off the floor. Any items in storage that can fit into a plastic tub with a lid should be placed in them. These tubs can then be put on the shelves to reduce clutter and give the garage some organization.
Seasonal Items
Holidays decorations and similar things should be stored together. This way when a person looks for these items they are in the same area of the garage. If they are used once a year or less they can be kept in the back of the shelves since they are seldom used. Items that are used more often or even on a monthly basis should be kept towards the front of the shelving.
Get Rid of Things
The garage is used for storage in many homes. If items have been laying around the garage for a period of time than it should be thrown out. Once your garage is cleaned and organized it is important to keep it this way. When items are taken from storage they should be put back right away and kept off of the floor. This will help keep the garage clean.
